Ingredients:
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tbsp ground ginger
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
- ½ tsp ground cloves
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ cup coconut sugar
- ½ cup maple syrup
- ½ cup softened butter (or vegan substitute)
- 1 egg (or flaxseed substitute for vegan)

Mix Dry Ingredients
In a bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt. -
Cream Butter and Sugar
In a separate bowl, cream butter with coconut sugar until light and fluffy. -
Combine Wet Ingredients
Beat in the egg and maple syrup until well blended. -
Incorporate Dry Mix
Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, forming a dough. -
Chill the Dough
Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill for at least 1 hour. -
Shape the Cookies
Roll out the dough on a floured surface and use festive cookie cutters to shape. -
Bake
Place cookies on a lined baking sheet and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned. -
Cool and Decorate
Let the cookies cool before decorating with icing or sprinkles.
